The Energy management Institute (EMI) started its activity as an NGO in June 2010.
EMI's mission is to contribute to the sustainable development of the Bulgarian energy sector and its integration in the European Union energy market.
EMI plays the role of a think tank offering innovative ideas in the energy policy area by performing market research using academic approach.
EMI provides a neutral platform for contacts and information exchange and thus gives a chance for networking and partnerships in the different spheres of its activity.
The institute achieves awareness raising of the customers and the accumulation of public knowledge on energy issues by providing accessible information.
EMI cooperates actively with the media and gives significant priority to the variety of contemporary forms of online communication.

Bulgaria is one of the 40 founding member of the World Energy Council (WEC), the most recognized global energy organization, established in 1923. The mission of WEC is "To promote the sustainable supply and use of energy for the greatest benefit of all people".
The Bulgarian National WEC Committee is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organization of individuals and legal entities. It was founded in 2002, according to WEC’s practice the member states to be represented through their national organizations.
The activities of the Bulgarian National WEC Committee include researchstudies and discussionson energy issues, analysis of topical energy problemsand proposal of solutionsto overcome them, development of strategic recommendations, organizing conferences, seminars and meetings for a wideexchange of views, publications, participationin research andworking groups of theWorld Energy Council, cooperation with otherorganizations, etc.
Members of the Bulgarian WEC Committee are leading energy experts and companies like Bulgarian Energy Holding, NEK EAD, NPP "Kozloduy", "Siemens" Bulgaria, TPP "Maritsa East 2", EVN Bulgaria, CEZ Bulgaria, EON, Contour Global "Maritsa East 3", "Maritsa East Mines", Risk Engineering, Insurance Company "Energy", Unicredit Bulbank and Energy Management Institute. Since 2012 member of the organization is also the South Korean Daesung Group under WEC "Global Partners" Programme.
