Matthias Queck is a Research Director at Planet Retail and has been working in Planet Retail’s Frankfurt office since 2005. From 2000 until 2005, Matthias worked as a journalist for Lebensmittel Zeitung, Germany's leading specialist paper on food retailing. There, he was responsible for the discount retailers such as Aldi, Penny and Lidl.
At Planet Retail, Matthias covers the German and Dutch retail markets and is in charge of discount retailing and private labelling. He has taken responsibility for some of Planet Retail's most successful reports, 'Private Label Trends Worldwide', 'How Aldi Works', and ‘Discounters: Rapid growth or gross myth? 2010’.

Kiril Pangelov graduated the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" with a major in Legal. At the same University and the University of Nancy, France, he has a master degree in "Legislation of the European Union". He also has a master degree in "Economics" at the University of Veliko Turnovo. He specialized in "European Legislation of Competition" at the Academy of European Law in Trier, Germany. He also worked with the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission in Brussels. Kiril Pangelov participated in the preparation of the new Law on Protection of Competition from 2008, with which the national legislation was modernized to comply with the achievements of the European law.

She has a master degree in European Legislation with a major in "European economic and social management" at the Maastricht University, the Netherlands. She specialized in "Market Integration and Public Services in the EU" at the Academy of European Law in Florence, Italy. She also worked with the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission in Brussels.

Nikolay Neshev is Managing Director of food retail chain "Piccadilly" since the beginning of October. He graduated the University of National and World Economy, Sofia with major in Finance. Additionally he specialized at the University in Leipzig, Germany. He speaks English, German and Russian. His career started with the Ministry of Economy at the Department for Public Relations. During 2003 he was occupied with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Germany, after which he moved to the Audit Department of the Bulgarian branch of the company at a managerial position. He developed projects for PWC in Germany, Russia, Serbia, Macedonia and Hungary. Before he joined "Piccadilly", Nikolay Neshev was Finance Manager with Cumerio Med, where he works since 2006.

Anna Rizova-Clegg is Country Managing Partner of the Bulgarian office of DLA Piper.The company is the main adviser of the leading retail chain Carrefour and assists their expansion strategy in Bulgaria. Anna has over twelve years of experience in the legal services field and has advised a number of national and international clients on a wide range of regulatory and commercial matters. In her practice Anna also focuses on competition issues and has considerable expertise in unfair competition, prohibited cartel agreements, merger control, concerted practices, consumer protection. Prior joining DLA Piper, Anna took senior positions in leading law firms. Beforehand she headed the Competition law department in the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company. In the beginning of her career she was part of the law team of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant in charge of the negotiations with major contractors for KNPP Modernization programme.

Dr. Tomas Krasny has been Managing Director of GfK Austria in Vienna since 2005, with special responsibility for Central and Eastern Europe. In the past he has supported the expansion of the GfK Group in the region as Business Development Director CEE, using his managerial experience gathered with GfK NOP USA. Tomas is co-founder of the Czech market research company INCOMA GfK, which was established in 1991 and has been part of the GfK Group since 2000. Dr. Tomas Krasny studied Economic Geography at the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, where he also wrote his doctoral thesis on methods for optimizing trading networks.

Andrey Evtimov is Executive Director of "Doverie Brico" (DIY hypermarkets Mr. Bricolage) and Member of the Management Board of the Association of Modern Retail, which was recently established by nine large store chain on the Bulgarian market. "Doverie Brico" has a franchising agreement for the DIY hypermarkets Mr. Bricolage," in Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo. Evtimov is Executive Director of the company since 2004. Before that he worked in the field of financial and investment consultancy in the areas of privatization and business planning for the purpose of providing bank financing on various projects. He is a co-founder of the privatization fund "Doverie" and one of its directors since 1996.

Dr. Ventseslava Tasseva - Sokolova currently works as a Director of Directorate "Animal Health and Food Safety" with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food since 2009. Before that she occupied the position Director of Directorate "State veterinary control" with the National Veterinary Service. Her professional experience includes also positions with the Directorate "Public Health" with the Ministry of Health and as a veterinary inspector with the State Veterinary and Sanitary Control Service in Sofia. She participated in a number of projects for exchange of experience, seminars and special courses concerning food safety standards. She has a doctor degree with the Institute for Zootechnics and Veterinary Medicine, Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.

Now, Verginia Kolarska manages the biggest department in BORICA - BANKSERVICE - with more than 70 employees in 28 offices around the country. Her professional experience includes the creation and the development of the B-Trust - Electronic signature brand. Today, B-Trust is the market leader. Mrs. Kolarska is also tightly involved to the establishment of the eFaktura.bg service, the development of the e-invoicing market and the e-invoicing as a whole.

Marina Brakalova has grаduated international relations and law but has most of her career from 2000 in the area or organizational and community development. Marina has been working for the American Red Cross development and assistance Programs as a representative for Bulgaria by 2005 and become FORA Community Development Foundation in 2006. FORA has been working to research and foster conditions for foodbanking development in Bulgaria by networking and partner building on a national level, also with Global Food Banking Network and European Federation of food banks. Marina has visited to study more than 20 food banks in Europe and US and has attended many foodbanking meetings and conferences to study best practices. Marina initiates Food Banking Planning Forum in 2010 as a network with partners from the business, public, and non governmental sector who focuses to develop a national wide scale model for acquiring available food from the food industry to better serve social needs in times of poverty and crises.

Maya Kalcheva holds a masters degree in Law form the Sofia University where she graduated in 2001. With the USAID Judicial Development Project, where she worked till 2003, Maya was involved with the judicial reform and development, judicial training , software development for the judiciary and coordinated the efforts of setting up "model court" pilot projects all around the country. She also assisted similar projects in Albania and Serbia. In 2003 she became a Project Manager for the Law and Internet Foundation which primarily deals with legal expertise on telecommunications and integration of contemporary information technologies in the public administration, judicial institutions and in professional juridical organizations. Till 2010 she was a free lance consultant, focusing on due diligence and small project management. In early 2010 Maya Kalcheva joined the FORA team and the Foodbanking planning project.

During his work with Nielsen he has trained more than 500 professionals from all major local and international FMCG manufacturing companies and retailers in Space, Assortment and Category Management. He participated in various projects on these issues across Europe, Middle East and Africa. His previous working experience includes occupation with Citibank, British American Tobacco, various Greek manufacturers and retailers. He graduated Business Administration with a major in Marketing at the Athens University of Economic and Business.

The Bulgarian Organic Trade Association was registered in may 2010. It's main purpose is to set a regulative framework and to support the growing number of firms, which deal with trade and manufacturing of organic products. Currently the Association has 24 member companies, one of which is Viltrade Ltd with manager and co-owner Peter Petrov. The company has been dealing with processing and retailing of organic products since 2007 and supplies all major retail chains in Bulgaria. It's portfolio consists of 400 products. Peter Petrov worked with "Nash dom Bulgaria" Holding, where under his management the first organic vegetable cans in the country were produced.

Before that he held brand management and demand planning positions with the same company. Successful projects for cosmetics assortment optimization and positioning were implemented with some of the international and local retailers, as well as several publications about Category Management were made in specialized journals. His aim is to promote the activity in Bulgaria and in this context he works on creating a website (www.cat-man.org), which will help professionals to exchange experience and information on the topic. Since the beginning of October Vassil takes the newly created position of Category Manager at Coca Cola HBC Bulgaria.

Hristo Raditchev began his carrier with GfK Bulgaria as a junior researcher and manager of the projects GfK Leaflet Monitor and GfK Shopping Monitor, both of which deal with promotional activities and consumer purchasing behavior at the FMCG market. After that he took the position Internet Manager with the international publishing house Reader's Digest, where he was responsible for e-mail marketing and development of client databases in Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia. Current he occupies the position Manager of Mediapost Hit Mail, part of the French group La Poste, which is one of the few companies in Bulgaria, specialized in direct marketing. His main interests include e-mail marketing, direct mailing, development of loyalty programs and client databases.
