Aurubis Aurubis

Aurubis is the largest copper producer in Europe and the world leader in copper recycling. The company produce some 1 million tonnes of copper cathodes and more than 1.2 million tonnes of copper products each year. Aurubis has production sites in 7 European countries with a total of about 4,7000 employees.

The company core business is the production of marketable copper cathodes from copper concentrates, copper scrap and recycled raw materials.

In Bulgaria Aurubis owns Pirdop plant that is a connection to the Southeast European markets. Almost 800 employees produce anodes, cathodes and sulphuric acid here. The smelter was commissioned in 1958, and has since been regularly modernised and expanded so that Pirdop is a modern site within the Aurubis Group.

Dundee Precious Metals Inc. is a Canadian based, international mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development and mining of precious metal properties. DPM owns the Chelopech Mine, a gold/copper concentrate producer and the Krumovgrad gold project, a mining development project, both located in Bulgaria. Dundee also owns 95% of the Kapan Mine, a gold / copper / zinc concentrate producer in southern Armenia. In addition, DPM holds significant exploration and exploitation concessions in some of the larger gold-copper-silver mining regions in Serbia.

DPM’s business objectives are to identify, acquire, finance, develop and operate low cost, long life mining properties.

The Company has been founded in 1990 by a group of Bulgarian engineers and physicists with main purpose to provide consultancy and engineering services in the field of power engineering.  Two years later the Company became a limited liability company and adopted the firm Risk Engineering, Ltd. The Company is one of the first Bulgarian private companies in the field of engineering and consultancy services. In the beginning its activity has been focusing mainly on risk and reliability assessment and management of operation of complex power and chemical plants.
Through the years, the Company acquired significant experience and extended its activities  starting to offer full range of engineering services, as demanded by the industry. In 2002 the company was reorganized into a Joint-Stock Company, and keeps functioning as such till the present time.
